Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day. So many take for granted that this day is just another holiday, but forget the enormous number of men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may enjoy the freedoms of this country. Semper Fi..!!

16 years, 6 months, 6 days Air Force.

Miss it some, but have moved on as well as I can. Enjoyed the vast majority of my time in the service - just wish it could have ended on a happier note - but then "how boring would that be."

I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps after graduating from high school in 1973. Did four years and was honorable discharged in 1977 as a corporal (E-4). MOS was 2818.

I graduated from Lakenheath in '72 and attended college at the University of Southern Colorado. I earned a Army ROTC scholarship and upon graduation in '76 was commissioned in Army Intelligence. I served for about 8 yrs. in Germany and state-side before deciding to seek a career in manufacturing.

I left Lakenheath right before grad in '90. I was a dormifor a few years. I spent 20 years in england. When I left I joined the USMC, but was wounded in Somalia, and served out my 4, I then joined the Army a year after where I served in Bosnia, Afgan, and Iraq 3 times, was supposed to reenlist last year for another five to get my 20, but I got hit by a tactor trailer. Irony is awesome right?

I retired in 1992 after serving as an Infantry Officer. I hope all who served after graduating from Lakenheath find themselves in good spirits. For those newer vets, and those still serving I found out that there is nothing as noble as a soldier, airman, sailor or marine. I'll even include aviators in that crew. Just kidding.
