I'll start with the "bowling ball " tale........since Todd is now gone, I don't think he'll mind me mentioning his name.

As everyone knows, directly behind the bowling alley there was this water tower. Now Todd Molds had this interest in what was in the center of a bowling ball....we as kids had all dissected golf balls and baseballs...so, what is the "magic" center of the bowling ball? Todd figured that dropping the ball from the water tower would answer thequestion. Well, I had a gym bag with me that particular day...must have had baseball practice. We slipped the bowling ball into the bag and made it out the door. Todd was going to climb the tower while i stood guard. Now...everyone that knew Todd remembers...he was a "big ol' boy ". It was quite a sight watching this fat kid try to climb that ladder....with that bowling ball. After several "rest stops" along the way , he finally made it to the top. With the traffic clear and,by now, a crowd of "our gang' at the base of the tower... Todd drops the ball. Now....a bowling ball doesn't just break. That ball exploded into a hundred pieces....shrapnel going every where. Needless to say....there is no "magic " center in a bowling ball......

The Bowling Ball story is LEGENDARY.
P.S. We miss you Todd.

What a beautiful picture of Todd - he was a total sweetheart - and a very funny guy. He didn't live far from us and I remember doing the dishes at our kitchen sink - and his head would pop up in the window from the dark outside and scare the sh** out of me. He carried a transistor radio that looked like a can of "bud" just to taunt the MPs.

Some time during the 70-71 school year my two roommates decided to sneak out of our first floor (Dorm 3) room and visit a motor pool parking area. It wasn't far, but I believe it was fenced. I was either too smart or too chicken to go. I did help them back in with their loot. They had collected the battery and the multi-colored, flashing emergency lights from a police (SP) car! We connected the lights to the battery and for a few days could put on quite a show. I can't imagine how we hid it from the counselors. Anyway the wires caught fire one day and we must have dumped it all. (I'll keep the names secret; I've never seen their names on any of the LHS or classmate sites.)

Well ....last night , while I was sitting having a "cool" one, I remembered an event that I REALLY got in hot water with. I had just gotten through e-mailing my brother..... telling him to have fun with this site.

I believe it was back in the summer of "68................ Now most of the airmen were just like us.....kids a long way from home. So we were all friends. And they could buy BEER. This one guy ( for the life of me... can't remember his name)lived in some Quonsot hut barracks across the highway from the NCO club. Two friends of mine - Lloyd & Linda - were over at his barracks one day , "sippin' on a few beers....... remember listening to "Are you Experienced' on the turntable .... I got up to leave , stepped out side to get on the old Lambretta scooter I had ... and all of a sudden there were two APs. We kinda looked at each other for a second...... and the Linda walked out. Boy.....I knew then the Sh*t was fixin' to hit the fan. It wasn't long before two AP cars were there. They hauled us to a station , made our dads come down and get us. I allways wonder what happened to that Airman.....got him for 3 counts of contributing to the "delinquency' of a minor and sent him Stateside. As for me , my mother reminded me of this event a while back (my brother knows how she is ...a memory like a steel trap )

Greg,
I think I remember that Airman, not his name though. Didn't he drive an orange hard top MG? I sure remember Lloyd and Linda, did Lloyd ever show you his "map", I'll explain in an email if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Well guys...... it appears Barry and I are the only ones to "bare" our souls here. So now for another story.........since I didn't learn a lesson from the "BEER" caper.

I won't divulge any names in this one........( one of them will know who he is...... the other's sister will be shocked !

Once upon a time....far ,far away........ No, Really..... One day the three of us ( no names ,remember ) were walking to the AYA from the BX. We were coming behind the NCO club and there was this van..... unlocked & damn , if the keys weren't in it. It must have been delivering beer to the club., because it had a couple of cases in it. I guess we decided we needed a little joy ride......so we did. Now, I had never driven......it had a standard transmisson , and Buddy #1 was the scrawny guy...... he couldn't reach the pedals. So Buddy #2 took over the driving duties. We got on the highway that went to Brandon...... out toward Site 4 (which was across the hwy. from the Rod & Gun club.)
Once we unloaded our "spoils" , we decided we better get the van back before it was missed. Welllll..... Buddy#2 the tall one, was driving us out of the area when....... the gear shift got stuck...wouldn't go into gear..

We ended up abandoning the vehicle along the highway and walking back on base. What is the statue of limitations on "grand theft auto "??

Let me ask you this, when you guys stashed your heist did you place a case of Schlitz in the doorway/hall of a quanset hut located close to the AYA? Does anyone remember how the airmen used to leave their beer on the window sill to keep it cool...?

I can relate to "stupid" very well. I can remember doing and saying a lot of things that I have to shake my head at and think to myself "what an (expletive) I was" I do remember a lot of good times too though. I am sure that I owe many apologies somewhere in between
