Lakenheath American High School Alumni Network

A virtual reunion for Lakenheath Lancers

I always think about the places we shopped and food we ate(that I usually didn't like)

My fondest shopping memories are the big Sunday Markets, Top Shop, Peterborough Mall, Boots and the news stands for sweets

Does anyone remember those yummy sticky candies called Snap Crackles I think, and Hedgehog crisps?

I have Fish Fry all the time over here, and not once has it been close to as good. And of course they bring me Ketchup instead of Vinegar :(
If any of you live near the store call WORLD MARKET, its down south, they have an aisle of English Candy. They don't have everything but they have Cadbury Flakes, Toblerone and much more!

we ( sorry the english) as far as i know no longer sell hedgehog flavour crisps, although i don't know why! LOL
although you remember what you used to eat in England and places you used to shop, in effect i am in the sam position but not what english food i ate or enlish shops, as i am enlish and am still here, but i remember the hot dogs in the place near the BX and shopping in the BX i loved it! it's been almost 17 years since i even set foot on Lakenheath Base and yet it is only miles up the road from where i live. i miss my school days so much. the only worries were when your next assignment had to be in. those where the days.

Maybe you can answer the myster. There was a candy there i just loved. I swear it was called a snap crackle.
It was flat and long like a taffy, pink and had a powder inside. I would die for some and i've looked all over the internet. Maybe I have the name wrong or they're gone.
When we were there they were 5p each. Have any idea what i'm talking about?

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about.......my sister and I would get them all the time in the small english store outside of base housing across street from Lakenheath and also when we were in Newmarket. Killing me to know name now though. but I have a new mission lol
