Profile

What was your graduating class year? If you were a dormie, which one?
1976
What years were you at Lakenheath?
73-74, and Feltwell JHS from 71-73. Lived at Feltwell.
Where are you now, and where have you been?
Living in the DC suburbs after college in Boston, grad school in TX, more grad school at LSE, which was a nice way to get to England again, couple of years in San Diego, and now in Maryland.
What's new with you? Work, play, relationships, family?
Happily married, two kids, one dog. Very sad to report that my brother, Tim McNamara, '74, passed away in 2000, due to cancer.
What did you do between Lakenheath and now?
Environmental policy work for EPA and consulting firms, now fundraising. Spent a lot of time with my husband, raising our two boys, traveling, being a scout leader (how funny is that!).
Name some old Lakenheath classmates you have contact with and will tell about this site.
Darlene Craven, '76
Amy Allen Imel, 77

Moira, I met your brother Tim only once but his name was well known in my house. My father, Richard McGowan, taught Tim at LHS and I believe they worked on the newspaper together. He was one of my dad's all-time favorite students, the one who everyone else was compared to. So sorry to hear of his passing.

Keep up the good work for the EPA! Such fun to read about all the interesting paths LHS alums have taken.

Moira, I was deeply saddened to hear of Tim's passing.
He was so dear to me all those years ago. I remember going to your house for
dinner once and being so nervous....I choked on my ice tea
at the table and could hardly regain my composure. When Tim took me to his room to listen to his music (ha!) your parents made you join us after a while and you were not happy!! ha! So glad to see
you on this site. My deepest condolences to you and your family
concerning Tim's death. He was so brilliant and a lovely guy.

Moira; great to hear from you! Sounds like you have a very nice life and some accompished kids, who will go off and create their own life memories (and maybe some expoits they will shudder to think about...I never wanted to know with my kids).
Lets see. I left LHS and went to the University of Central Florida in Orlando, then joined the Air Force and had a 24-year career. My last assignment was here in Melbourne, FL. I retired here (retired into my second career) and am continuing what I did in the Air Force as a civilian contractor. I'm a flight test director on one of the Air Force's surveillance aircraft (called Joint STARS). It's great fun, good people, and no desk (most of the time). All pre-requisites for me to keep working. I married when I was 22. Had two girls (now 23 and 25). Got divorced. Remarried a gal from Australia, and have been married now for 19 years. I've been lucky to have been around good people that seem to have brought the best out of me. I couldn't expect anymore from my life and I hope it just keeps getting better.
It sounds like you are a caring person who likes doing things for other. Fundraising must be a tough job, but rewarding. And impacting environmental policy sounds interesting as well (I recycle...are you impressed?)
Take care and keep in touch!
All the best to you and your family.

Hi Moira; Jeff Nickerson here. Remember me? I haven't been on this site for awhile and noticed your name (instant memory flood). I hope this email finds you well and happy. Very sorry about your brother.

All the best,
Jeff

Hi Moira,
So glad to see you on this site. I have thought about you often through the years and wondered how you were. Nice to see you are doing well and are happy. Sorry to hear about Tim. I try to explain to my son about the good times at Feltwell and how different it was from any other JHS, he just doesn't get it. We certainly had some fun times.

Moira,
I posted a photo of Amy Allen on my page. Would be good if I could confirm it is her... at Feltwell.
Thanks so much, Cindy

Hello Moira!

I remember you from Feltwell, and from Mr. Dosedel's and Mr. Hunter's biology class in 10th grade. I was sorry to hear about your brother's death. Reading about the life he led after LHS was inspiring.

I knew your brother and I'm really sad to hear of his passing. He was really a nice guy. I lost my baby brother 4 years ago due to diabetes. Life can be cruel sometimes. My prayers are with you.

Moira,
I do in fact remember Tim's sister. I last saw Tim when he came blasting in to Colorado Springs Fall of 74 and stayed at my Frat house at Colorado College. Talk about fun. Most still consider me somewhat fun, although my daughter thinks I'm a dork. I was very sorry to hear about Tim(Mac, to many of us), and sorry for your loss-it's a loss for all of us who knew and loved him.

Oh my, I thought about what I said about Tim holding me tight. No, it wasn't a wild affair!! Trust me everyone--we were JUST friends. He was a very special man that anyone could talk to and know it wasn't repeated.
